POKHARA: Two people died after a car with Indian registration fell into Phewa Lake in Pokhara early Friday morning. Two others traveling in the car were injured.
According to the District Police Office, Kaski, the accident occurred at around 4:50 am on Friday.
The car, bearing registration number BR 05 BB 6759, was heading toward Lakeside from Sedi in Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 when it fell about 20 meters from the Gairichaura turn and plunged into the lake.
The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Navdeep Kumar Yadav and around 26-year-old Priyanshu Pandey, both residents of Raxaul in East Champaran district of Bihar, India.
Anmol Kumar Yadav, 27, and Suraj Yadav, 33, both from Raxaul, were injured in the accident.
A joint team from the Ward Police Office, Baidam, and the Nepal Armed Police Force’s No. 24 Kalika Battalion reached the site after receiving information about the accident. The team found two people unconscious at a depth of around 20 feet in the lake.
They were immediately taken to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, where doctors pronounced them dead.
The two injured, Anmol Kumar Yadav and Suraj Yadav, are out of danger, police say.
Police suspect the accident may have occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
