Rs 600 million collected in PM Relief Fund on Monday

KATHMANDU: The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund received Rs 600.22 million in donations from different institutions and individuals on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Finance, 83 industries, corporate houses and individuals handed over their donations to Minister for Finance Swarnim Wagle and Acting Finance Secretary Uttar Khatri.

The government made an appeal to donate to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund on August 27, a day after the devastating Bhotekoshi flood. A total of Rs 273.3 million was collected on August 28, Rs 386.06 million on August 29, Rs 47.9 million and $200,000 on August 30.

IME Group has donated Rs 100 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Varun Beverages, the bottlers of PepsiCo products in Nepal, donated Rs 10.01 million on Monday. Similarly, representatives of BYD Cimex handed over the previously announced Rs 70 million to Minister Wagle on Monday.

The devastating flood has claimed more than 900 lives, while more than 4,000 have gone out of contact.
