Rabi reaches New Delhi

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) reached New Delhi on Monday for a five-day visit at the invitation of Nitin Navin, president of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP Secretary Arun Singh and the party’s Foreign Affairs Department chief Vijay Chauthaiwale welcomed Lamichhane and other members of his team at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

RSP Joint General Secretary and House of Representatives member Bipin Kumar Acharya, Secretariat member and lawmaker Deepak Bohora, Lamichhane’s spouse Nikita Poudel, among others, are in the team.

During his visit, Lamichhane is scheduled to hold high-level political and diplomatic meetings in New Delhi. According to the RSP, he will also meet senior leaders of the BJP.

He is also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior Indian leaders. However, details of the meeting have not been made public.

Likewise, he is scheduled to attend a program organized by the Nepali community in India and also meet RSP supporters. He is also scheduled to make a personal visit to Ayodhya.

According to the RSP, the main objective of the visit is to establish party-to-party relations between the RSP and the BJP. The two sides are also expected to exchange views on organizational practices, democratic processes and people-centered political engagement.
