Cabinet recommends ambassadors for 13 countries

KATHMANDU: The government has recommended ambassadors for 13 countries, including neighboring China and India.

A cabinet meeting held on Friday made the recommendations, according to Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal.

Khanal said the nominees were selected based on their expertise, academic and research backgrounds, leadership experience and work in various sectors.

The recommendations will now be sent to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee for hearings. After their names are endorsed by the committee, President will appoint then as ambassadors.

Proposed ambassadors:
Dr. Nischal Nath Pandey — India
Dr. Kalyan Raj Sharma — China
Chiran Jung Thapa — United States
Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana — United Kingdom
Jigyan Kumar Thapa — Japan
Suresh Kumar Karn — Israel
Prapti Sherchan — Spain
Sharu Joshi — Germany
Dr. Padmakshi Rana — Oman
Chudamani Kharel — Malaysia
Prof. Dr. Sangam Shrestha — South Korea
Dr. Manchala Jha — Sri Lanka
Giri Bahadur Sunar — Saudi Arabia
