KATHMANDU: The National Assembly passed the government’s policies and programs for the fiscal year 2026/27 with a majority vote on Thursday.

The upper house passed the policies and programs after Minister for Finance Dr Swarnim Wagle responded to questions raised by lawmakers during deliberations.

Earlier, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal presented the proposal for a decision. Although CPN-UML stated that it would abstain from voting, the policy and programs were ultimately passed through a voice vote of members.

During the meeting, Minister Wagle addressed queries raised during discussions on the government’s policies and programs for the next fiscal year. He said the government is committed to advancing the existing economic foundation, inclusive development, and overall social progress.

He also informed that the upcoming budget will be formulated based on a 100-point governance reform agenda and suggestions received in the federal parliament.

President Ramchandra Paudel had presented the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year during a joint sitting of both houses of the federal parliament on May 11.
