KATHMANDU: Disaster-related incidents claimed 10 lives across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
According to the NDRRMA, 10 people lost their lives in 69 disaster incidents, while 25 others were injured in these incidents.
Shanti Mahat, the spokesperson for the NDRRMA, said lightning strikes accounted for five deaths. “One person died in a fire, two due to altitude sickness, and two others from snakebites and animal attacks,” she added.
During this period, 38 incidents of lightning were recorded. These incidents left 19 people injured and damaged property worth Rs 3.8 million.
Thirty-three people have died, and 121 have been injured in 544 disaster-related incidents in the past 14 days, according to NDRRMA.
