Dahal warns action against leaders, cadres backing RSP candidates Pushpa Kamal Dahal

KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has instructed party leaders to identify party leaders and cadres who did not vote for the party’s own candidates during the House of Representatives elections held on March 5.

Citing reports that some party leaders and cadres did not support the party’s official candidates, Dahal also warned of disciplinary action against those found to have voted for the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) election symbol.

Addressing a meeting of leaders from party-affiliated mass organizations at the party’s central office, Dahal stressed the need to enforce strict discipline within the party organization.

“Among central and provincial committee members, who did not go to their constituencies? Who did not vote? Who voted for the ‘bell’ symbol of the RSP? You must submit reports to us. Such individuals must be punished; otherwise, the party cannot be built,” he said.

Dahal added that the party restructuring process would begin from this point. “I would like to assure all that disciplinary action will be taken only based on concrete evidence,” he said. “Action will be taken, if found guilty, from the central members themselves. I have received a report that even central members leaned toward the RSP.”

Dahal also said the party would review feedback and criticism received after the elections and move forward with organizational reforms accordingly.
