POKHARA: Gandaki Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey has replaced all ministers in his cabinet.
Provice Chief Dilli Raj Bhatta appointed nine ministers in the Gandaki Province Government on the recommendation of Chief Minister Pandey as per Article 168 (9) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Pandey is leading the coalition government of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML. The two parties have shared ministerial berths based on the power-sharing agreement reached earlier. As per the agreement, each party has four ministers in the cabinet. Chief Minister Pandey is from the NC
The newly-appointed ministers were sworn in on Wednesday itself. Province Chief Bhatta administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-appointed ministers at the meeting hall of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in Damside, Pokhara.
Govinda Bahadur Nepali has been appointed Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management, Nanda Prasad Neupane as Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Water Supply, Jeet Bahadur Sherchan as Minister for Economic Affairs; Bhim Bahadur Karki as Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives, Yashoda Rimal as Minister for Industry and Tourism, and Rekha Gurung as Minister for Social Development, Youth and Sports.
Likewise, Laxman Bahadur Pandey has taken charge of the Health Ministry, while Namdu Gurung has been appointed Minister for Forest and Environment.
Meanwhile, Drona Kumar Kunwar, a lawmaker from the Nepali Congress, has resigned after not being appointed to Pandey’s cabinet. He submitted his resignation to Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital on Wednesday.
Kunwar was elected from the Baglung-2(B) seat under the first-past-the-post system.
