CHITWAN: The venue of the 1st National Convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been shifted to Bharatpur, Chitwan.
The convention, scheduled to take place from June 21 to 23, was initially planned at Hotel Star in Ratnanagar. However, the venue has now been shifted to Bharatpur.
According to Rajan Gautam, a Central Committee member of the party and coordinator of its accommodation and food management committee, the opening ceremony will be held at the Guest House Ground in Bharatpur, while the closed-door sessions are planned at the Industrial Exhibition Center of the Chitwan Chamber of Industries.
Gautam said parking arrangements are being made at the Central Bus Terminal. “The venue is being changed as per the instructions of the party’s central president,” he said.
The party expects a large turnout of cadres and members of the public at the opening session. Gautam said the venue was changed because extreme heat and the possibility of rainfall could make it difficult to conduct the closed sessions under tents.
Chairperson of the party’s Chitwan chapter, Mini Madhav Khanal, said a district-level meeting held on Monday decided to request the central leadership to change the venue due to the intense heat. Preparations have since begun at the Guest House Ground for the opening session, and a formal request has been sent to the Chamber of Industries seeking use of the exhibition center.
Khanal said around 50,000 people are expected to attend the opening ceremony and that preparations are underway to manage the large crowd.
Preparations for the convention are being carried out in coordination with the party’s district and municipal committees, central committee members based in the district, and members of the House of Representatives. He said all 18 subcommittees formed to oversee the event are actively engaged in their respective responsibilities.
According to the party, leaders of national political parties and representatives from neighboring countries have been invited to attend the opening ceremony. Around 3,000 delegates are expected to participate in the closed sessions.
