KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister and Defense Minister Balendra Shah on Tuesday.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava was also present during the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
General Seth arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Ashok Raj Sigdel. During the visit, President Ramchandra Paudel conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army upon General Seth on Monday.
Nepal and India have maintained a tradition of conferring the honorary rank of General on each other’s army chiefs since 1950.
General Seth held a bilateral discussion with General Sigdel at the Nepali Army Headquarters on Monday.
