KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the election process for the 15th general convention of the party formally began on Tuesday.
Addressing a training program for the party’s election officers in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Thapa said there is a need to complete the necessary work for the general convention on time as per the Constitution of Nepal, the party statute, and the Supreme Court verdict.
“We need to do a lot of work in the limited time. Work should be executed in such a way that no one can raise questions later. The election process has formally begun from today,” Thapa said.
He added that the party’s Election Committee will make public the general convention schedule so that the convention can start on October 2 without fail. Thapa also noted that election officers deployed to districts should mobilize professors, lawyers, and teachers, among others, to make the election process more orderly and managed.
Thapa further stated that preparations were underway to unite the party by addressing the grievances of leaders and cadres. “I am actively working to unite all leaders and cadres who are unhappy with the party,” he added.
The Central Working Committee of the party has decided to hold its 15th General Convention in Kathmandu from October 2 to 6.
The party organized the training program for election officers to prepare them to hold elections at the district level.
