Govt reduces customs, infrastructure tax on petroleum products by 50%

KATHMANDU: The government has reduced customs duty and infrastructure development fee on petroleum products.

A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to reduce customs duty and infrastructure development tax by 50% each.

The price of petrol currently stands at Rs 202 per liter, and diesel/kerosene at Rs 182 per liter in Kathmandu.

The government is currently levying Rs 10 per liter as an infrastructure development tax. Likewise, it is levying Rs 25.23 per liter customs duty on petrol and Rs 12.03 per liter on diesel and kerosene.

The cabinet decision means the price of petrol will come down by Rs 17.5 per liter and diesel/kerosene by Rs 11 per liter.
