KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted a modest gain of 4.45 points on Sunday, extending the rebound seen on the closing session of the previous week.
Although the benchmark index had dropped sharply after initial gains, it ultimately ended the session 0.15% higher at 2,824.90 points.
Despite Nepse’s gain, unit prices of 130 scrips declined, while 124 advanced and nine remained unchanged. Greenlife Hydroower Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 810.12 million worth of shares traded on Sunday. Next were Ridi Power Company Ltd and National Hydropower Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 679.64 million and Rs 625.52 million, respectively.
Total turnover fell slightly to Rs 14.33 billion with 39.54 million units traded through 124,490 transactions. On Thursday, Nepse recorded a turnover of Rs 14.55 billion as 41.68 million shares changed through 130,015 transactions.
Among trading groups, nine ended the session in the green and four posted losses. The biggest gain came from the Trading sub-index, which closed 2.83% higher. Next were the Development Bank and Finance sub-indices with gains of 0.74% and 0.22%, respectively. On the other hand, the biggest loss came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which fell by 0.62%.
