KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued losses in the second straight session on Tuesday, closing 9.62 points lower at 2,603.71 points.
Although the index posted gains initially, it soon moved into negative territory. After hitting an intra-day low of 2,588.95 points, it pared some losses but still closed the session in the red.
Market breadth was negative on Tuesday with 199 stocks declining, while 69 advanced and 10 remained unchanged. Total turnover declined to Rs 4.65 billion with 11.06 million units traded across 51,274 transactions.
Among individual stocks, 12% ICFC Finance Limited Debenture 2083 posted the highest gain of 9.18%. Sayaptri Hydropower Ltd and 7% SBI Bank Debenture 2090 were next with gains of 6.79% and 6.42%, respectively. On the other hand, Citizens Super 30 Mutual Fund posted the biggest loss of 5.44%. RBB Mutual Fund 2 and Mega Mutual Fund-I were next with losses of 4.67% and 4.39%, respectively.
Himalayan Distillery Ltd topped the turnover chart with total transactions of Rs 229.96 million. Shivam Cement and Siddhartha Bank Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 172.57 million and Rs 165.85 million, respectively.
Two trading groups posted nominal gains, while the remaining 11 ended the session in the red. The Trading sub-index posted the biggest loss of 1.87%. The Hotels & Tourism and Microfinance sub-indices followed with losses of 0.65% and 0.55%, respectively. The Others and the Non-life Insurance sub-indices inched up 0.12% and 0.11%, respectively.
