Vote counting concludes in all 165 FPTP seats; RSP wins 125

KATHMANDU: The final results of all 165 first-past-the-post (FPTP) constituencies under the House of Representatives election held on Thursday have been published.

According to the Election Commission (EC), results from all constituencies across the country have now been made public. Although the EC has not posted the final result of Dhanusha-1 on its website due to a pending court case, the office of the returning officer has already issued the elected certificate to Nepali Communist Party (NCP) candidate Matrika Yadav.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) emerged as the largest party in the House of Representatives in just four years of its formation, winning 125 seats under the FPTP system and on track to win close to 60 seats under the proportional representation system (PR). The party has already secured a majority and is heading for a two-thirds majority in the lower house.

The Nepali Congress (NC) finished second in the FPTP race, winning 18 seats. Similarly, the CPN-UML came third, winning only nine FPTP seats. The two parties were in the first and second positions, respectively, in the dissolved House of Representatives, with 89 and 78 seats.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) secured fourth place with wins in eight constituencies.

The Shram Sanskriti Party, formed by former Dharan mayor Harka Raj Rai, a couple of months before the elections, won three FPTP seats.

Similarly, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and an independent candidate each won one FPTP seat.
