KATHMANDU: Pakistan secured their berth in the Super Eight stage of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a 102-run victory over Namibia on Wednesday.
India, which meet the Netherlands later on Wednesday, have already qualified for the Super Eight stage with three wins out of three played in Group A.
Batting first after winning the toss at the SSC Cricket Ground in Colombo, Pakistan scored 199 for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Namibia folded for 97 runs in 17.3 overs.
Opener Shaibzada Farhan scored a not-out 100 off just 58 balls to take Pakistan close to the 200-run landmark. Saim Ayub (14), Captain Salman Agha (38), and Shadab Khan (36*) supported Farhan from the other end. Khawaja Nafy scored 5.
Jack Barassell picked up two wickets for Namibia, while Gerhard Erasmus claimed one.
Chasing a target of 200 runs to earn their first win in the T20 World Cup, Namibia added 32 runs for the first wicket in four overs. After opener Jan Frylinck (9), Namibia lost wickets at regular intervals. Opener Louren Steenkamp scored 23, and Alexander Busing-Volshcenk hit a run-a-ball 20. Other Namibian batters failed to reach double digits.
Usman Tariq claimed four wickets for Pakistan, while Shadav Khan picked up three, and Salman Mirza and Mohammad Nawaz contributed with a wicket each.
Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe have qualified from Group B, while the West Indies and England have secured their berths in Super Eight from Group C. Similarly, South Africa and New Zealand have qualified from Group D.
