Revenue from realty transactions up 8.94% in seven months*

KATHMANDU: Revenue mobilization from land and housing transactions increased by 8.94% over the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2025/26, compared to the same period last year.

According to the Department of Land Management and Archives (DoLMA), the government collected Rs 26.92 billion in revenue from land and property transactions between mid-July and mid-February of the current fiscal. The total collection during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year stood at Rs 24.71 billion.

This marks an increase of Rs 2.21 billion.

Data show the highest revenue collection was recorded in Poush (mid-December to mid-January) when the DoLMA mobilized Rs 5.17 billion. Similarly, the lowest was in Ashwin (mid-September to mid-October) with Rs 2.74 billion.

The number of transactions, however, increased at a slow rate of 1.2%. According to the DoLMA, a total of 856,000 transactions were recorded in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, compared to 845,651 transactions during the same period last year.

Among land revenue offices, the Land Revenue Office, Lagankhel, topped the revenue chart with a total collection of Rs 523.12 million. Land Revenue Office, Dillibazar, and Land Revenue Office, Kalanki, were next, with total revenues of Rs 389.36 million and Rs 338.11 million, respectively.

All three offices are in Kathmandu Valley.

In terms of the number of transactions, the Land Revenue Office, Kalanki, was at the top with 7,436 transactions, followed by the Land Revenue Office, Jhapa (6,644) and the Land Revenue Office, Nepalgunj (5,819).
