KATHMANDU: Yanki Ukyab has been appointed as the CEO of the Office of the Investment Board Nepal.
A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday made the decision.
Ukyab, who hails from Olangchung Gola in remote eastern Nepal, is a development economist and public policy expert. She earlier served as the Senior Policy Adviser to the United Nations Development Programme in the Pacific region.
The Investment Board Nepal is a high-level institution under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister for attracting and facilitating private investment, including Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and managing Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Nepal.
A selection committee led by Minister for Finance Swarnim Wagle, and comprising National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice Chairperson Sunakar Bhatta and Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s Good Governance Adviser Sudip Dakal as members, had recommended three names to the cabinet.
Ukyab previously worked with the OIBN for nearly six years, overseeing responsibilities such as project financing.
She has become the first woman to take the helm of the OIBN and the fifth CEO overall.
Radesh Pant, Maha Prasad Adhikari, Sushil Gyawali and Sushil Bhatta served as OIBN CEO before her.
