KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Foreign Affairs Department Chief and former Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali has said that the world is being pushed toward a serious crisis by dominant powers.
Addressing the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties in Havana, Cuba, Gyawali said efforts were underway to weaken international law, multilateralism and the role of the United Nations.
Calling the tendency to regard power as truth dangerous, Gyawali said the law must prevail over power and sovereignty over dominance. He said it was a moral crisis that inequality and poverty persist at a time when technology and artificial intelligence are transforming the nature of labor and the economy.
Presenting socialism as a humane and rational response to global inequality, Gyawali called on communist and workers’ parties around the world to unite to build a world based on peace, justice and human dignity.
Gyawali said the violence and vandalism of public property during last year’s Gen Z movement could not be described as a democratic movement.
