KATHMANDU: More than five dozen leaders and cadres in Siraha, including two former lawmakers, have announced their decision to quit CPN-UML.
Organizing a press conference in Golbazar, they said they were leaving the party as they were satisfied with the party leadership.
Those leaving the party include former lawmakers Janaki Ram and Samjhana Thapaliya, and district committee secretariat member Phuleshwar Nayak, among others. They announced that they would not remain even a general member of the party.
In a statement, they expressed serious concern over what they described as growing authoritarianism within the party, a personality-driven working style, deviation from established procedures and principles, and the erosion of internal democracy.
“The leadership’s failure to respond despite our repeated constructive efforts to bring reforms and put the party on the right path, the tendency to discourage honest workers, and the dominance of individuals over ideology have forced us into this situation,” they said in the statement.
Similarly, more than four dozen leaders and cadres from Dharmapur village have also announced their resignation from the party.
