KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said that a total of 34 complaints have been registered with the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee so far.
Based on these complaints, the EC sought explanations from the concerned political parties and candidates. Explanations have been received in 24 cases, according to EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai. “Necessary action is being taken against these complaints received at the district level,” he added.
According to the EC, the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committees, District Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers, and the concerned election offices are actively engaged to ensure effective implementation of the code.
The EC has appointed monitoring officers in all 77 districts in accordance with Clause 32 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2026, to strengthen monitoring and ensure enforcement at the district level. Assistant Chief District Officers (CDOs) have been designated to monitor non-financial matters, while Chief Treasury Controllers/Treasury Controllers have been assigned to monitor financial matters, according to Bhattarai.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Election Officer for the proportional representation system of the House of Representatives election has published the final closed list of candidates under the proportional electoral system. The list includes 3,135 candidates from 63 political parties contesting under 57 election symbols. Of them, 1,772 are women, and 1,363 are men.
