KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has fixed an ordinary date in cases filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Although political parties, particularly CPN-UML, have been saying that the apex court must deliver a verdict on the case before the House of Representatives elections set for March 5, the Case Management Section fixed an ordinary date for coming Tuesday.
More than a dozen writ petitions have been filed at the Supreme Court, claiming that the decision to dissolve parliament is unconstitutional. The court had earlier conducted preliminary hearings on the petitions and directed the defendants to submit written responses.
The Supreme Court has already ordered that all related writ petitions be heard together.
Major political parties, including the UML and the Nepali Congress, as well as legal practitioners, have filed petitions against the dissolution.
