KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to induct all members of the Central Working Committee (CWC) led by outgoing party president Sher Bahadur Deuba in the current Central Working Committee.
A meeting of the party’s Central Work Execution Committee held at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Sunday made the decision, according to Central Working Committee member Bajranga Nepali.
With the decision, all Central Working Committee members elected by the 14th General Convention and nominated by the then leadership will become members of the party’s Central Working Committee elected by the Special General Convention held in January.
“A decision has been made to induct all members of the Central Working Committee led by Deuba in the current Central Working Committee,” Nepali said.
He said all such members would be invited to attend the upcoming meeting of the Central Working Committee.
“They have been inducted into the Central Working Committee that will also become the organizing committee for the 15th General Convention,” Nepali added.
Although the party has decided to include members from the Deuba-led Central Working Committee in the current committee, it has not made any decision regarding office-bearers.
The rival faction, meanwhile, has maintained that the 15th General Convention should be held under the leadership of Sher Bahadur Deuba, who was elected party president at the 14th General Convention.
The Nepali Congress establishment faction has decided to hold the 15th General Convention in Kathmandu from October 2 to 5.
It has decided to recognize all active party members whose memberships were renewed by December, making them eligible to participate in the upcoming general convention.
The Deuba faction has also announced its own convention schedule. The faction plans to hold its general convention in Kathmandu from November 21 to 23.
