ITAHARI: Police have seized five SUVs that were being used on the inner roads of Taplejung district by altering their registration numbers, engine numbers, and chassis numbers.
According to Nepal Police’s Highway Security and Traffic Management Office in Itahari, the Mahindra Bolero SUVs were seized during routine checks.
Police say the SUVs were seized as their details, like vehicle numbers, chassis numbers, and engine numbers, were not found in the records of the Transport Management Office.
According to police, vehicles with altered numbers and identities are often linked to theft, smuggling, and tax evasion. The operation of such vehicles on inner roads of remote districts has posed a challenge to revenue collection, public safety, and traffic management.
The vehicles have been handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office, Itahari, for necessary legal action.
