KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has decided to provide Rs 42 billion to the Government of Nepal.

According to the central bank’s annual report for fiscal year 2024/25, a meeting of the Board of Directors of the central bank held on November 14 decided to allocate required amounts to various funds and make the remaining Rs 42 billion available to the government.

Governor Dr Bishwo Nath Poudel presented the annual report to Minister for Finance Rameshore Prasad Khanal on Sunday.

The report, divided into three sections, includes a review of the macroeconomic and financial situation in the first section. The second section presents details of the central bank’s activities during the review year, while the third section covers the financial statements of the previous fiscal year, including the final audit results.

According to the report, the central bank’s net income—before adjustments of foreign exchange and other asset revaluation gains or losses—rose by 9.11% in 2024/25 to Rs 80.48 billion. Similarly, the financial statement at mid-July 2025 shows that the bank’s assets and liabilities increased by 29.23% compared to the previous year, reaching Rs 26.71 trillion.

The Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2001 requires the central bank to submit its annual report—comprising its balance sheet, income and expenditure, and other related details—to the Government of Nepal within four months of the completion of each fiscal year.
