KATHMANDU: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava paid a courtesy call on Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the meeting focused on bilateral relations, cooperation and the current state of Nepal-India relations.
During the meeting, Minister Kharel appreciated the longstanding historical ties between the two countries, India’s assistance in Nepal’s development projects, and its goodwill and support in various stages of Nepal’s social and political evolution. Minister Kharel told the Indian envoy that the government’s top priorities are to hold free and fair elections, curb corruption, and promote good governance.
Kharel, who also serves as the government spokesperson, said the government has been engaging in dialogue with political parties and civil society representatives to ensure elections are held on schedule.
In response, Ambassador Srivastava congratulated Minister Kharel and reaffirmed India’s continued support as a close neighbor. He said the Government of India is ready to enhance financial and technical cooperation in Nepal’s priority sectors to support the country’s economic transformation and prosperity.
