KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma has said that the party’s main leadership must resign immediately.
Making public a 16-point analysis of the Gen Z protest and the way forward, Sharma said the Gen Z movement has exposed corruption, cultural deterioration, and weaknesses in political, commission-based and leadership systems. “Lessons from this movement must be constructively synthesized to move the country forward,” he said. Sharma added that the party should support the interim government in creating an environment conducive to holding timely elections.
Sharma has also proposed forming an independent commission to investigate the assets of party leaders and the losses suffered by the public during the Gen-Z protests. He also called for a high-level commission to review the assets of all retired officials since 1990.
He also said the elections for party leadership should be reformed to a direct electoral model with clear tenure policies. He called for initiating political debate on replacing the current electoral system with a fully proportional system for parliamentary elections and advocated for a directly elected executive president.
Sharma further emphasized the need for clear policies to address issues faced by Dalit women within the party, and for investigating incidents of cultural deviation and sexual misconduct. Sharma said it is necessary to formulate policies for the protection of martyrs’ families, missing persons, injured Maoist fighters, the disabled and senior citizens.
He also advocated for programs to promote self-employment through labor and economic production initiatives. Likewise, Sharma said all party members must remain vigilant in defending national unity amid perceived threats to nationalism.
