KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index gained 34.46 points, closing trading at 2,760.17 points on Tuesday.
Although the benchmark index shed 35.09 points on Monday, it bounced back 1.26% on Tuesday as banking stocks posted healthy gains.
Total turnover also improved to Rs 9.41 billion as 26.51 million units changed hands through 74,057 transactions during the session.
Unit prices of 209 scrips rose during the session, while only 39 declined. Butwal Power Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 523.26 million worth of shares traded. Nifra Green Energy Debentures and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 505.12 million and Rs 439.71 million, respectively.
Sector-wise, the Banking sub-index was at the top with a 1.92% gain. The Finance and Hydropower sub-indices followed with gains of 1.82% and 1.67%, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in the green on Tuesday.
