Important decisions taken by Monday’s cabinet

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to accept concessional loans of over Rs 41 billion from the World Bank Group to implement road and bridge improvement projects.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting held on Monday, according to Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

Other major cabinet decisions include:

  • Forming a 21-member delegation led by the Prime Minister for an official visit to Spain from June 30 to July 5.
  • Accepting a concessional loan of Rs 20.79 billion from the World Bank for the third phase of the Bridge Repair and Maintenance Project.
  • Presenting the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies to Parliament for approval.
  • Accepting a concessional loan of Rs 20.72 billion from the World Bank’s International Development Association for the Strategic Road Network and Trade Route Improvement Project.
  • Accepting a grant of Rs 1.08 billion from the South Korean government for the Inclusive Rural Development Project in Bardiya.
  • Appointing High Court Judge Dr. Shanta Sedhai Sapkota as Chairperson of the Foreign Employment Tribunal.
  • Transferring Secretary Parashwar Dhungana from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
  • Promoting Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Armed Police Force, Ganesh Bahadur Thada Magar, to the rank of Additional Inspector General.
  • Allowing the Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality of Tanahun to use 10 ropanis of government land to build a 15-bed hospital.
  • Allowing the District Ayurveda Health Center in Chitwan to use 2.13 bighas of public land to construct a 100-bed Ayurvedic hospital.
  • Forming a Nepali delegation to participate in the 16th meeting of the Nepal-India Bilateral Consultation Committee, scheduled to be held in Pune, India, on June 23–24.
  • Allowing the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) to use 43.66 hectares of national forest land in Sunwal, Ramgram, and Bardaghat municipalities of Nawalparasi (West) for the construction of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line.
  • Approving a proposal for Nepal to become a member of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA).
  • Promoting Joint Secretary Dr. Khagendra Prasad Subedi to the rank of Secretary.
  • Appointing Joint Secretary Nirmala Adhikari Bhattarai as Acting Secretary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
