
KATHMANDU: The foundation stone for the construction of a new academic building of Shree Tribhuvan Secondary School in Inaruwa Municipality of Sunsari was laid on Tuesday.
Member of House of Representatives Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu Prasanna Shrivastava and Inaruwa Mayor Kedar Bhandari jointly laid the foundation stone amid a ceremony attended by political representatives, government officials, social workers, teachers, students and parents, according to a statement issued by the Embassy of India.
The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 24.83 million, is being funded by the Government of India under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ program.
The grant will be utilized to construct a double-storied school building and other allied facilities. The project is a part of India’s High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) and is being implemented through Inaruwa Municipality.
Established in 1958, Shree Tribhuvan Secondary School offers education from Nursery to Grade 12 and currently has around 750 students.
Speaking on the occasion, Srivastava said India has undertaken 563 HICDPs across all provinces of Nepal, including 91 projects in Koshi Province, since 2003.
