Nepse extends gains to seventh session; turnover falls to Rs 9.9 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gaining run into the seventh straight session on Tuesday, closing trading 7.13 points higher at 2,765.88 points.

The benchmark index has gained 87.41 points over the past seven sessions.

Despite the gain, turnover fell to Rs 9.9 billion as 17.86 million units of securities were traded through 97,562 transactions on Tuesday.

Unit prices of 104 scrips went up during the session, while 132 declined and nine remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 1.02 billion worth of shares traded on Tuesday. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 830.36 million and Rs 297.57 million, respectively.

Sector-wise, six sub-indices posted gains, while seven ended the session in the red. The biggest gain came from the Others sub-index, which was up by 2.9%. Trading, on the other hand, suffered the biggest loss of 2.51%.
