Chilime-Trishuli transmission line construction completes

RASUWA: The Chilime-Trishuli transmission line has been completed after six years and ten months of construction. Preparations for testing the transmission line are now underway.

The 220 kV capacity transmission line, which faced delays due to geographical challenges and various disasters, was completed on November 2.

The completion of this transmission line will facilitate the connection of both completed and upcoming hydropower projects in Rasuwa to the national power grid.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) constructed the transmission line from Thambuchet in Rasuwa to Matatirtha of Kathmandu. A section of the transmission line from Trishuli to Matatirtha is already operational.

Tharka Bahadur Thapa, Director of NEA’s High Voltage Grid Department, said that testing of the transmission line will begin soon.

The total cost of the transmission line project is Rs 3.62 billion. Pinggao Electric Co Ltd of China built the transmission line. Due to geographical challenges, helicopters were used for transporting construction materials, and drones were employed for wire stringing.

With the completion of this transmission line, power generated by several projects like Rasuwagadhi (111 MW), Lower Sanjen (42.5 MW), Upper Trishuli I (216 MW) and Trishuli 3B (37.3 MW) will be connected to the national grid.
