KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell 10.62 points and closed trading at 2,070.25 points on Sunday – the first trading day of the week.
Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, it erased all the gains and eventually ended the day 0.51% lower.
Share prices of 150 companies declined on the day while 84 posted gains and 10 remained unchanged. Shivam Cements Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 416.41 million traded. Next were Sonapur Minerals & Oil Ltd and Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project Ltd with turnovers of Rs 230.79 million and Rs 137.88 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, three posted gains while 11 ended the day in the red. The biggest loss came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which came down by 1.56%. Among gainers, the biggest gain came from the Development Bank sub-index, which was up by 0.82%.
Shares worth Rs 3.38 billion were traded on Sunday, while total market capitalization reached Rs 3.25 trillion.
