KATHMANDU: Four parties of the new ruling alliance have signed an eight-point agreement.
CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) have agreed to form a new government with Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the Prime Minister.
As per the agreement, the four parties have agreed to support the candidate of the Maoist Center and UML for the positions of National Assembly chairperson and vice-chairperson, respectively.
Likewise, the parties have agreed to share ministerial portfolios among them based on mutual consensus. They have also agreed to hold talks with other political parties to include them in the government.
The four parties have also agreed to conclude all remaining works of the peace process, including approving the bill related to transitional justice, on a consensus basis.
Similarly, they have agreed to prepare and approve necessary laws related to the implementation of federalism. Likewise, the four parties have agreed to make a common minimum program to guide the government’s policies and programs.
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, and JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.
