Oli calls for probe into undemocratic changes of government

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has stressed the need to investigate the practice of changing governments through undemocratic, antisocial and criminal means.

Speaking at a program to launch the website of the Policy Studies and Research Academy at the party office in Chyasal on Thursday, Oli said there should be an investigation into attempts to change governments through such means and establish puppet governments.

He said the practice of overthrowing democracy through undemocratic means must come to an end.

Stating that those in government must be accountable to the people, Oli recalled that the UML-led government had paid special attention to the welfare and management of persons with disabilities, people who are physically impaired, the helpless, the destitute and senior citizens. He said alleviating people’s suffering was a prerequisite for achieving the goal of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”

Oli said efforts should focus on creating sources of income, increasing production and providing employment opportunities that enable families to meet their basic needs.
