KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak to the fifth straight session on Thursday, closing 20.76 points lower at 2,005.83 points on the last trading day of the week.
The benchmark index incurred losses on all four trading days of this week. Shares of 197 companies declined, while 49 advanced, and two remained unchanged on the day.
The biggest losses came from Hydropower stocks as the group’s sub-index was down by 1.9% on the day. The sub-index of the market heavyweight Banking group was also down by 0.96%. Only the Manufacturing & Processing and Finance indexes ended the day in the green.
Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd registered the highest turnover of the day with Rs 148.79 million worth of shares traded.
Daily turnovers improved on Thursday compared to the previous session. Shares worth Rs 3.20 billion were traded on the bourse compared to Rs 2.21 billion on Wednesday.
