ITAHARI: Police have arrested controversial religious leader Acharya Shreeniwas in Sunsari district.
Shreeniwas was arrested from Chakraghatti area of Barahakshetra Municipality, Sunsari, on Tuesday, according to the District Police Office, Sunsari.
Shreeniwas was taken into custody to investigate his recent address in Madhesh Province, where he allegedly used words that could potentially incite communal violence, a police officer at the District Police Office, Sunsari, said.
“We detained Shreeniwas on Tuesday afternoon and have begun needful investigation,” the police officer said.
