ITAHARI: The District Administration Office, Sunsari, has lifted the indefinite curfew imposed in different parts of Sunsari following Sunday night’s fatal incident in Kaptangunj.

According to a notice issued by Chief District Officer Ishwori Prasad Aryal, the curfew has been lifted effective from 12:15 am on Tuesday.

The order had been enforced from the border of Inaruwa Municipality–3 and 6 (Ghopali Tole) to the Koshi Barrage bridge, and within a 200-meter area north and south of the East-West Highway.

Earlier, the administration had imposed an indefinite curfew in the area from 9:00 pm on Monday until further notice.

The local administration said the curfew was lifted after reviewing the security situation. However, it added that prohibitory orders previously enforced in some sensitive areas of the district will remain in place.

One person was killed and 22 others were injured when police opened fire to take the situation under control after people of two communities clashed in Kaptangunj of Devangunj Rural Municipality.
