KATHMANDU: Janakpur Bolts face Pokhara Avengers in Match No. 9 of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) at the TU International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
The Bolts will be looking to build on their winning momentum when they take the field at 5 p.m., while Pokhara Avengers will be eyeing their first win.
Janakpur, who lost their first match against Karnali Yaks by 19 runs, beat Kathmandu Gorkhas by eight wickets in their second match. Pokhara, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from their six-wicket defeat to Sudurpaschim Royals.
Janakpur’s batting and all-round strength will be tested against a Pokhara side featuring Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Sri Lanka’s Dhananjaya Lakshan. Janakpur have also assembled a formidable overseas contingent featuring James Neesham, Iftikhar Ahmed, Moeen Ali and Harmeet Singh.
The match comes after a rain-affected Saturday in which the opening fixture between Chitwan Rhinos and defending champions Lumbini Lions was abandoned without a result.
In the second match, Biratnagar Kings defeated Sudurpaschim Royals by 35 runs in a contest reduced to five overs per side. Biratnagar posted 105 for two before restricting Sudurpaschim to 70 for three.
