US National Security Council official meets Foreign Minister Saud

KATHMANDU: United States Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director of the National Security Council for South Asia, Eileen Laubacher, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs, NP Saud, on Wednesday.

In the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders exchanged views to further strengthen Nepal-US relations and promote bilateral cooperation, the foreign ministry said in a post on X, formally Twitter.

Laubacher, who arrived in Nepal on a two-day visit on Wednesday, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other senior government officials to discuss cooperation in security and other bilateral issues.

USAID Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia, Michael Schiffer, visited Nepal last week. He met finance minsiter Dr Parakash Sharan Mahat and reaffirmed USAID’s Commitment to working hand-in-hand for Nepal’s development.

Alaina B Teplitz, a former US envoy to Nepal, is scheduled to arrive in Nepal next week. She currently serves as assistant secretary of the state.
