Scotland defeats Namibia by 10 wickets

KATHMANDU: Scotland consigned Namibia to their second defeat in as many matches in the ICC World Cricket League (WCL) 2 tri-series at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kathmandu on Monday.

A dominant display with both bat and ball secured Scotland’s 10-wicket victory against the African side. This is Scotland’s 23rd win in 33 matches in WCL 2.

Batting first, Namibia folded for 153 runs, losing all their wickets in 39.2 overs. Scotland achieved the target in 22.1 overs.

Namibia suffered a two-wicket defeat against Nepal in its first match of the tri-series on Tuesday.

Opener Lo-handre Louwrens scored 54 runs from 88 balls, while wicketkeeper-batsman Zane Green hit 25 runs from 35 balls. Bernard Scholts hit a 39-ball 30. However, other Namibian batsmen failed to reach double digits.

Michael Leask took four wickets, while Safyaan Sharif and Mark Watt each took three wickets.

An aggressive century by George Munsey took Scotland home in the 23rd over. Munsey scored an unbeaten 103 runs from just 61 balls. Other opener Kyle Coetzer scored 46 runs from 72 balls.

Scotland will now play Nepal in the second match of the tri-series.
