Prithvi Highway to be closed at night for construction work

KATHMANDU: The Naubise-Malekhu section of the Prithvi Highway will be temporarily closed for road construction work between 11 pm and 3 am over a two-week period starting Thursday.

District Administration Office, Dhading has announced that motor vehicles will be halted at Khayarghari and Pokharekhola to facilitate the road expansion work between Simle and Malekhu until October 7.

During a meeting held on Tuesday, various stakeholders in the district made the decision to facilitate road widening and upgrading works. It also decided that emergency service vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines would be permitted even during the restricted hours.

The government is currently upgrading the Prithvi Highway to four lanes. The road widening and upgrading activities are underway in different segments.

Prithvi Highway is the primary lifeline for the Kathmandu Valley serving as the gateway for essential supplies entering the valley.
