Prime Minister Balendra Shah
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has left for Bidur in flood-hit Nuwakot on Thursday morning for an on-site inspection of the affected areas.
Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal is accompanying the Prime Minister.
Officials say the PM departed for Bidur, one of the worst-hit areas by the floods, by road at around 9:30 a.m.
Prime Minister Shah has remained actively involved in coordinating rescue and relief efforts since the flood in the Bhotekoshi River caused damage in areas along the riverbanks on Wednesday.
Immediately after the flooding, Shah convened high-level meetings, issued necessary instructions to government agencies for rescue and relief operations, and has continued to facilitate the response.
Although the floods have caused damage in many areas, Shah will primarily inspect Bidur and nearby affected settlements in Nuwakot on Thursday.
During the visit, the prime minister and the infrastructure minister will assess the physical damage caused by the floods and hold discussions with local administration officials, security agencies and elected representatives on relief, rehabilitation and the resumption of disrupted infrastructure services.
They are also scheduled to issue necessary instructions to expedite relief delivery to all affected areas and accelerate infrastructure reconstruction.
