NUP dispute: Sudurpashchim Province Assembly member Chaudhary suspended

KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has suspended its Sudurpashchim Province Assembly member Ghanashyam Chaudhary for three months.

Chaudhary is also the parliamentary party leader of NUP in the Sudurpashchim Province Assembly.

NUP Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha notified Sudurpashchim Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari about the party’s decision on Friday.

“Since Province Assembly Member Ghanashyam Chaudhary repeatedly ignored calls to attend party meetings, and the clarification letter submitted to the party chairperson was not deemed satisfactory, he has been suspended for three months as per the decision taken by the central committee as per Section 17 (A) 2, 4 and 5 of the party statute,” the letter states.

The relationship between party chairperson Shrestha and patron Resham Lal Chaudhary has worsened in recent days. The party on April 8 exelled Sudurpashchim Province Assembly member Indira Giri.
