Nepal-EU Film Festival from April 28

KATHMANDU: The Delegation of the European Union to Nepal is organizing Nepal European Union Film Festival (NEUFF) in Mahendranagar, Surkhet, and Kathmandu.

Issuing a statement, the delegation said the first part of the festival will be held at Far-Western University in Mahendranagar from April 28-30 under the theme ‘Celebrating Human Rights for all’.

The festival will then travel to Surkhet where the second part of the festival will continue from May 3-5 at the Mid-Western University followed by the final round of screening taking place in Kathmandu on May 12-15 at the Nepal Film Development Board in Chabahil.

“Since 2023 marks the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we have selected ‘Celebrating Human Rights for all’ as the theme for our film festival in order to raise awareness with the general public about their rights and build networks and solidarity to safeguard the human rights of all,” EU Ambassador to Nepal, Nona Deprez, said in the statement.

Eight European films as well as eight Nepali short films will be screened during the festivals.

The festival will also feature panel discussions on ‘The role of films in promoting human Rights’ and ‘Film Appreciation: How to Understand and Appreciate Films?’.

The Delegation of the European Union to Nepal has been organizing film festivals for the past 11 years.
