KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs, NP Saud, is embarking on an eight-day visit to the United States of America on Sunday.

According to a press statement issued by the foreign ministry, Minister Saud will welcome United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Kathmandu and hold discussions with him before leaving for the US.

Saud will hold bilateral talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday. Likewise, he will meet Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) CEO Alice P. Albright, Chief Administrator of USAID Samantha Power, and high-ranking officials of the US government, according to the statement.

Likewise, Saud will meet Congressman Mike Carey, who is also the co-chair of the Nepal Caucus in the US Congress. He will also address the US Institute of Peace.

The visit at the foreign minister’s level is taking place after five years. The former foreign minister, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, made an official visit to the United States in December 2018.

Saud was in the US last month to attend the United Nations General Assembly together with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
