KATHMANDU: Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a condolence message over the disaster caused by floods in Nepal.
The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu said Xi sent the message to his Nepali counterpart, President Ram Chandra Paudel, on Friday.
A devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River along the Nepal-China border on Wednesday caused significant loss of life and property.
According to Nepal Police, the flood has claimed 547 lives so far.
The flood triggered by an avalanche and rockfall from the northern slopes of Lantang Lirung first hit the Nepal-India border point of Rasuwagadhi on Wednesday and washed away downstream settlements of Timure, Syafrubesi, Betrabati and Trishuli Bazaar.
