APF sends five DRS containers to Jajarkot, Rukum West

KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) has dispatched five Disaster Relief System (DRS) containers to earthquake-affected regions to support disaster relief efforts.

DSP Shailendra Thapa, the joint spokesperson for the APF, reported that three containers were transported from Maheshwari Brigade, Surkhet to Jajarkot, and two containers from Jwalamai Battalion in Dang to Rukum West. “Temporary shelters have already been constructed using the materials from these DRS containers,” Thapa stated.

Temporary shelters have been erected on the premises of Tribhuvan University School and Rautgaun in Bheri Municipality, Jajarkot. Similar structures have also been established in Sano Bheri Rural Municipality, Rukum West.

The APF has received a total of 33 DRS containers from the US Embassy in Kathmandu. They have been strategically placed in various brigades and battalions nationwide for rapid deployment to affected areas, Thapa explained.

These DRS containers contain essential logistics such as tents, bedding, and utensils, designed to support approximately 100 people.

Previously, the APF dispatched three containers filled with 10,700 tents to areas affected by the earthquake.
