KATHMANDU: Two containers carrying 590 cartons of electronic cigarettes (vapes) and other goods were seized from Lomanthang in Mustang district on Saturday night.
According to the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal, a joint team from the APF Nepal Border Out Post Nechung, Nepal Police, and the Mustang Customs Office intercepted the two containers heading to Kathmandu from the Nepal-China border point in Korala near Eklebhatt in Lomanthang-4 on Friday night.
The team also arrested three individuals. They have been identified as Santosh Lama of Dhading, and Funchu Dorje Tamang Pasang Sherpa of Sindhupalchowk.
Along with vapes, 259 cartons of shoes of various brands, eight sacks of socks, 15 sacks of readymade garments, and 15 kilograms of empty carton boxes used for packaging goods were also seized from the two containers.
“The detained individuals have been handed over to Nepal Police for further investigation, while the confiscated goods have been submitted to the Mustang Customs Office,” APF Nepal Spokesperson DIG Bishnu Prasad Bhatta said.
