Actor CP Lohani passes away

KATHMANDU: Actor Chidambaram Prasad Lohani, better known by his screen name CP Lohani, passed away in Kathmandu on Monday. He was 86.

Lohani breathed his last at Annapurna Neuro Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for a respiratory problem, on Monday afternoon, according to foreign affairs expert Dr Nishchal Nath Pandey, a relative of the Lohani family.

Lohani is survived by his wife Mala Sinha and daughter Pratibha Sinha. He met Sinha, a popular Bollywood actress, during the shooting of the Nepali film ‘Maitighar’ – the first Nepali film produced by the private sector. They fell in love and got married in 1966.

According to the Nepal Film Artist Association, Lohani’s last rites will be performed at the Aryghat cremation grounds later on Monday.
